Intel Core Ultra is the name for premium new processors from Intel that feature new AI experiences, immersive graphics, and an optimal balance of battery life and performance.
Intel rebranded their processors' line to a new naming scheme entirely removing the generation & i in their old naming scheme, whilst keeping the 5,7,9 numbers to keep a tab of variety.
e.g
OLD: Intel 14th-Generation Core i9-14900K Processor
NEW: Intel Core Ultra 9 processor 14900K
NEW: Intel Core 9 processor 14900K
AMD: Ryzen 9 7950X
The series of chips as known before is also about to change as they are getting rid of the P series and G series respectively. Here is what we know about the kept series U-series representing CPUs that are 9 watts and 15W. H-series represents 28W and 45W CPUs. Intel previously used this designation to note its 28W chips. That’s gone, so 28W chips will share the same H-series name as 45W chips, Manufacturers are allowed to increase the wattage to performance for their needs and how well they can manage thermals,
I can say the ultra chips are birthed by Apple's innovative work since the drop of Intel for their M series chips M1, M2 & M3.
