The new Pixel 8 series release with 7 years of software support seems like the best.
The Pixel devices are known for their Simple Software, which sets them apart in the Android/smartphone market. They are considered smart devices because of their impressive features, such as photo editing, Audio Magic Eraser, and Google Assistant.
The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are better than their predecessors in several ways, making them more compelling. However, Google is asking for a lot of trust from its users to get there. The new phones are more expensive, with a $100 price hike for each model. This puts the Pixel 8 at $699 and the Pixel 8 Pro at $999. The days of the standard Pixel being an upper-tier midrange phone are gone, as they are now both flagship devices.
The new Pixel 8 and 8 Pro come with the 4nm processor Tensor G3, which boosts performance and AI capabilities compared to the old Tensor G2. While the new Tensor still lacks the raw performance benchmarks of other devices like Samsung and Apple, it offers buttery smooth performance for day-to-day tasks and mild gaming. However, it is still a long way from Samsung's Heat Control abilities. Both phones also offer new brighter screens.
The main differences between the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are the telephoto (zoom) lens, bigger screen (Super actual display) and battery, and temperature sensor that gives off gimmick vibes. One new feature that is not a gimmick is Face Unlock's upgrade to a Class 3 biometric. This means it can be used for things that require the highest level of security, such as mobile payments and banking apps. Although Face Unlock was introduced on the Pixel 7 series, users still needed to scan their fingerprints if they wanted to pay for something or check their credit card statements.
The Google Pixel 8 Pro brings back the design language established with the Pixel 6 series and refined in the seventh generation. The phone's backside consists mostly of matte frosted glass made from Gorilla Glass Victus 2, with the visually striking aluminium visor housing a triple-lens camera system. The Pixel 8 has a glossy back glass and matte aluminium frame.
