Finally Launched. The Dell XPS 15 Laptop With Specifications We All Wanted

The best 15-inch consumer laptop is about to get better. With Intel taking the wraps off its new 8th Gen "Coffee Lake" processors today, Dell has announced a new version of the XPS 15 based on the new chips.
As with the previous generation XPS 15, Dell is using the high-power “H” versions of the chips, with options ranging from the quad-core Core i5-8300U to the six-core Core i7-8750H and what we presume is the Core i9-8950HK (Dell did not specify the version in its release information). These processors will represent the fastest notebook options available and should retain the XPS 15's performance advantages

In addition to its new processors, the XPS 15 9570 will be available with a new GPU option: the Nvidia GTX 1050Ti. You'll also be able to get it with Intel integrated graphics or the slightly-slower GTX 1050 chip.

The laptop retains the same design and luxurious carbon-fibre deck as previous models but throws in a more-colourful 4K panel. Like the XPS 13, Dell achieved the 15's smaller size by shaving off millimetres around its display, bringing the overall size down to about the size of an average 14-inch laptop. Despite being more compact, Dell says it can hit up to 21.5 hours of battery life.

According to Dell, that makes the notebook the “smallest performance 15.6-inch laptop” around, and given its starting weight of 4.0 pounds, it's also one of the lightest.

The new XPS 15 includes two USB 3.1 5Gbps Type A ports, HDMI 2.0, an SD card reader, a headset jack, a Noble lock, and a Thunderbolt 3 port. And importantly, Dell
updated the Thunderbolt 3 port to a full four-lane implementation.

Added support for Nintendo Wii, WiiU and Switch will be added as well. On top of that, the USB adapter wi...

Supercomputer Can Calculate in 1 Second What Would Take You 6 Billion Years

It's shiny, fast and ultrapowerful. But it's not the latest Alpha Romeo. A physics laboratory in Tennessee just unveiled Summit, likely to be named the world's speediest and smartest supercomputer. Perhaps most exciting for the U.S.? It's faster than China's. Hot 100 smartphones The supercomputer — which fills a server room the size of two tennis courts — can spit out answers to 200 quadrillion (or 200 with 15 zeros) calculations per second, or 200 petaflops, according to Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where the supercomputer resides. "If every person on Earth completed one calculation per second, it would take the world population 305 days to do what Summit can do in 1 second," according to an ORNL statement. Put another way, if one person were to run the calculations, hypothetically, it would take 2.3 trillion days, or 6.35 billion years.
